Crane pendant push button switch:

The crane pendant push button is a device that is used to control the hoist or EOT crane. This device is a main part of the EOT crane also called a crane control unit or crane pendant station. The crane inspector or moderator checks it first if any error or interruption is found in the crane control unit. The long cable wire dangles down from the hoist and is attached to the crane pendant and this wire is called crane pendant cable

The crane pendant is operated by the operator to control the hoist and crane. The hoist is used for lifting and lowering heavy-duty objects. There are few buttons present on the crane pendant push button that can move the crane in directions like long travel, cross travel, and main hoist. The crane pendant control is equipped with the wired systems and they take the electric power the same as the overhead crane gets.

 

How crane pendant switch works:

The overhead crane is operated by the operators with the help of a crane pendant switch. The transmitter is a handheld device that is connected to the crane through a wired system and this transmitter is operated by the operator. There are two persons required for to manage the overhead crane in case of wired systems.

The first man sits in an overhead crane while the other person operates the crane pendant push button station. The person on the ground gives the signal and guide to another operator. When the person presses any button on the transmitter then it sends the signal via the wired systems. The buttons present on the transmitter are interlocked horizontally. That means you cannot press multiple buttons at the same time.




When the overhead crane travels and crosses the line that the operator also has to walk alongside the EOT crane due to the wired systems. The EOT crane pendant has many types like 2 buttons, 4 buttons, 6 buttons, 8 buttons, and 10 buttons. These types have their specification and features.

The main disadvantage of a crane pendant is that the operator has to sit inside the overhead crane which is very risky and another thing is that the ground operator walks along with the crane, here the operator may mess up the obstacles and can fall, sleep or tripped which is potentially dangerous.

 

Requirement of crane pendant push button station:

The pendant push button is equipped with many wires and fully works on the wired systems because of this they don't need any charging or battery replacement systems. Due to the wired connection, the transmission does safely and rapidly. The transmission is very secure between the start and endpoint. 

If any slowness or error is found in any route then it immediately changes to the other network so the communication can continue. In the case of radio remote control if there is some error found between the transmitter and receiver then the transmitter suddenly stops working and hence communication is affected.

The crane pendant push button station doesn't affect by the external force or outsider attack due to the end wired connection.   

 

Cessation:

The above points show that why there is a requirement for crane pendant push button switch. The crane pendant has some advantages and some pitfalls. From the industrial point of view, there is the necessity of remote control for overhead and hoist cranes. It can be either wired or wireless systems.
