What is a crane pendant?
The crane pendant is a part of the crane and is mostly
used for controlling the crane. The main thing of the crane pendant is used to
manage the hoist which is attached to the crane and lifting the heavy materials
and objects. It is also referred to as a crane pendant station. And it is the
main part of the crane. If anything is not working accordingly then the crane
inspector checks the crane pendant
first. The term crane pendant can be described as a control unit connected to
the crane through a long wire in an electronic system. And the cable wire is
suspended from the overhead crane and hangs like a pendant and hence it is
known as a crane pendant. And the cable wire is known as crane pendant cable.
The crane pendant takes the power supply from the machine which also gives the
power supply to the crane.
How does a
crane pendant switch for hoist work?
The crane pendant is used to operate the crane and it can
be controlled by either machine or human being. In the case of human operators,
one man sits in the cabin of an overhead crane while the other man stands below
on the ground for command and giving a signal to the other operators. The man
who stands on the ground has to move safely alongside the crane while the crane
moves. Because the hoist is connected to the crane pendant push button station
through a pendant cable and dangles down from the overhead crane.
In today's world many industries using the radio remote
to control the crane. But a few years ago all the industries are following the
wired systems.
Why use Crane
pendant control switch:
There are some points that can be considered for using
the pendant
control switch for the industrial sector. And they are as follows:
1. Reliability
and stability: As the hoist
pendant control is connected with the cable so while establishing a connection
there is no chance of external interruption. Because of this, it provides a
secure connection. And with the help of hubs, switches, and Ethernet cable it
provides a more reliable connection as compared to the wireless connection.
2. Speed: As compared to wireless communication the wired
connection provides a better speed because it is connected through the wire and
there is very little chance of external cause of the interruption. In the case
of wireless radio remote if any dead spot is found then the radio remote
control stops the working process rather than wired communication does not
affect by the dead spot. If any dead spot is found in wired communication then
it switches the routes and starts working with another route because each and
every device is connected with each other.
3. Security: As it totally depends upon the wired systems so it
provides more security as compared to wireless communication. There is very
little chance of hacking and disturbance from external things.
4. Cost: The cost of a wired connection for a overhead crane
pendant control is higher than the radio remote connection. Because It requires
wires, cables, switches, and other hardware things to establish a secure
connection between the crane pendant station and crane.
