Crane pendant:
The crane pendant is a part of the crane which is used to
handle the hoist in the overhead crane. It is the most important part of the
crane. It is also known as the crane control unit and inspector or first-person
check the crane pendant in case of any breakdown. The crane pendant
control switch is generally wired into an electronic crane mechanism and
connected with a cable wire known as a crane pendant cable. The wire is
suspended from the overhead crane and hung like a pendant, hence it is known as
a crane pendant. It is also referred as pendant control or pendant control
unit. It takes the energy from the same power source that powers the crane
itself.

pendant push button switch is generally used to control and monitor the
movement of the EOT crane. In the pendant push button switch there are many
buttons like start, stop, left, right, up, down, forward and backward. The

The crane moves in a specific direction like long travel(LT), cross travel, and
lifting and lowering the heavy loads. The pendant push

systems.

The
crane may be operated with the help of two operators. The one operator is
sitting in the cabin of the overhead crane while the other guy guides from the
ground. It can also be controlled from the ground by using a pendant push
button switch. The pendant switch is connected to the crane itself with the wired
system and hang down from the hoist of the overhead crane is control by an
operator. The operator also has to move alongside when the crane moves and
passes the runaway. The operator can lift and lower the loads with the help of
a pendant switch button. The crane pendant uses the same power supply which is
given to the EOT crane or hoist.
Benefits of
the pendant push button control:
As we
know the pendant push button switch works on the fully wired system because of
this communication and transmission happens to take place rapidly as compared
to the wireless systems. The wired system is also helpful in case of a dead
spot. As the hoist crane is connected with many wires and if there is any dead
spot found in any route then it switches to another route. While in the
wireless radio remote control if any dead spot is found then the transmitter
stops them working immediately. There is no external interruption while
communicating because of the wired systems. In addition, because the pendant is
hung from the hoist, there will be no accidental drop or misplacement of the
controller. Pendant push button do not require battery charging as they get
power from the crane electrification system. The main disadvantage of the wired
system is that the operator has to sit in the overhead crane for the operation
which is very risky for the operator too.
